Tamuning — The Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam (GIAA) is happy to welcome on board, the newest addition to its management team in the person of John "JQ" Michael Quinata. "JQ", as he is most commonly known, has now assumed the position of Deputy Executive Manager as confirmed by the GIAA Board of Directors at its April 30, 2019 board meeting. As an autonomous arm of the government, the Airport Authority empowers the Executive Manager to fill the Deputy Executive Manager position. The selection is made, of course, with courtesy collaboration with the Office of the Governor.
Mr. Quinata brings quite an impressive record of government management and experience to the table. As a public servant, he served as a Senator with the 27th Guam Legislature with oversight of the Committee on Tourism, Public Safety and the Judiciary. Prior to that, he served under the Gutierrez-Bordallo administration as the Director of the Guam Customs and Quarantine Agency (CQA).
He also has an extensive military career of over 38 years in the U.S. Air Force and the Guam Air National Guard, where he recently retired at the distinguished rank of E9 as the Sixth State Command Chief Master Sergeant.
JQ Quinata stated, "I'm quite honored to have been chosen to serve alongside Executive Manager Thomas C. Ada at the GIAA. We've worked together while he was a senator and I the CQA Director. I know that we can work well together and I look forward to the opportunity to work with the careered staff of the Airport Authority, where it seems I'm coming back full circle, literally! I'm ready to jump in and address some of the more public issues of facility cleanliness, establishing positive first and last impressions of our island and airport, and also the challenges with the numerous capital improvement projects, namely our new International Arrivals Corridor."
