A.B. Won Pat International Airport , Guam Celebrates 43rd Anniversary
Friday, January 11, 2019
The A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam (GIAA) will celebrate its 43rd Anniversary as an autonomous agency of Guam with a Proclamation Signing event with Governor Lou Leon Guerrero declaring the Week of January 13 through January 19, 2019, as Airport Week 2019.
The Proclamation Signing will take place at 10 a.m., January 11, 2019 in the Cabinet Conference Room of the Governor's Office, the first proclamation to be signed and issued by the Leon Guerrero/Tenorio Administration.
"We are very excited to highlight the Airport's importance to Guam's economy as part of our celebration as an autonomous agency of Guam. As a self-funded entity, airport operations contribute $2.3B annually to Guam's economy. This agency is on solid footing in regard to fiscal performance and Guam Airport facilities have been recognized consistently in meeting and exceeding operational safety from regulatory agencies and operational efficiency from international entities", stated Mr. Tom Ada, GIAA's new Executive Manager. "Presently, fourteen (14) carriers provide passenger and air cargo services to Guam from nineteen (19) originating points. In Fiscal Year 2018, the Guam Airport processed over 3.8 million arriving, departing and transit passengers through our facility, and we are looking to increase this number in the current year," Mr. Ada continued.
"I will continue to engage with our airlines and regulatory agencies to discuss current operations and the way forward, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank them for their commitment and hard work as partners in the progress in Guam's air transportation. I look forward to synergy in our work efforts in the coming year to reach greater heights in terms of service and numbers of passengers flying to and from our facility. I also want to thank all employees working at the airport for their dedication and work products that enhances our reputation internationally, as well. "
The public is encouraged to participate in Airport Week 2019 events, such as the Annual Airport Week 5k Take-Off Run scheduled for Saturday, January 12, 2019, with go time at 6:00 a.m., starting and finishing at The Home Depot parking lot. Additional activities are detailed in the attached Airport Week 2019 schedule.
