Airport Float Awarded 2nd Place

The A. B. Won Pat International Airport’s float entry in the 65th Liberation Day Parade won 2nd Place in the Government of Guam division. “Our Airport is a unifying symbol of all that is Guam and a standing testament to Guam’s famous hospitality” stated Mary C. Torres, Acting Executive Manager.

The Airport’s float entry is a tradition in promoting public and industry awareness of airport facilities and services. The identifiable Airport facade took center stage in the float design as a representation of “We are Guam” – a true melting pot of the Pacific. Colorful vertical banners show the diversity of faces, locals and visitors alike, who walk through our terminal everyday- from Guamanians to Japanese tourists to our Kababayans from the Philippines and our Micronesian brothers who make up our community.

From sea travel to air travel, we represent Guam as a world class destination unifying an international audience with a colorful globe on display surrounded by flags from our neighboring countries and island nations. The United States and Guam flags are prominently displayed at the top of the globe as a special tribute to 65 years of freedom and liberty.

“We are happy to have received the 2nd place recognition in our division,” Mrs. Torres further stated. “Kudos to our employees and Airport affiliates who worked hard on the float. We are truly glad we participated in this significant event, and appreciate the opportunity to showcase all that is Guam at yesterday’’ Liberation Day Parade.”
