GIAA Employee Selected for FAA Regional Office Airports Certification Inspector

The A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam is proud to announce a milestone in its employee history with the selection of Juan S.A. Reyes as Airports Certification Inspector with the Airports FAA Airports District Office in Honolulu, Hawaii.
“Mr. Juan Reyes has served the Airport Authority since 1996, in progressive capacities with the Operations division. His most current position was Operations Superintendent, overseeing division personnel in the Ramp Control, Terminal Center and Operations administrative office. He has also worked very closely with past FAA inspectors on runway and operational inspections. We are proud of Juan’s achievement in attaining such a distinguished position with our FAA District Office,” stated Mary C. Torres, Acting Executive Manager.
Juan Reyes has achieved much in his career with the Airport Authority. He attained the “A.C.E” designation bestowed by the American Association of Airport Executives after completing rigorous academic and practical training in Airport Operations in 2007 and has also been recognized as Manager of the Year several times throughout his term as Operations Superintendent. In addition to these recognitions, he has also become a primary point of contact and important liaison with the armed forces and Guam Homeland/Civil Defense for the agency, as well as primary contact for existing and prospective airlines.
Mr. Reyes is expected to officially join the FAA Airports District Office in Honolulu in late September 2010. His duties will comprise of conducting field activities of the Airport Certification and Safety program for our geographic area, that includes Guam, Saipan, the FSM, Palau and the Marshall Islands. This will involve evaluating practices and compliance by certificated Airport Operators necessary to retain Airport Operative Certificates, in accordance of Federal Air Regulations Part 139.
