Plans for Airport Week 2012 Underway

The week of January 13 through 20, 2012 will be proclaimed as Airport Week 2012 with a Proclamation Signing by Governor Eddie B. Calvo to be held at the Governor’s Complex in Adelup on Friday, January 13, 2012.
2012 will mark the 36th anniversary of the Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam (GIAA) as an autonomous government organization which was created by PL 13-57 on January 20, 1976. The Airport’s mission is “to develop and promote competitive international and regional aviation services that ensure the safety and security of the traveling public and support economic growth for the island community”.
“We are looking forward to another productive year in 2012 and stand committed to continuing the development of facilities to build new industry, attract more business and maintain our role as the leading airport hub for passengers and cargo in the region,” stated Chairman Michael Z. Ysrael.
“Airport Week 2012 will feature many exciting events that will celebrate our hardworking airport employees and tenant partners,” stated Mary C. Torres, Executive Manager. “We look forward to the return of our 5K Run/walk through scenic airport property and tournaments for basketball, softball, bowling and golf. In addition, there will be a paddling challenge and an airport Wave. We celebrate this special week with all our tenant partners who are instrumental to the growing success at GIAA and who play a vital role in our airport and in our tourism industry.”

January 13, 2012 Proclamation Signing, Adelup Complex Conference Room, 10:00 a.m.
January 2, 2012 Start of Basketball Tournament, Tamuning Gym
January 14, 2012 5K Run/Walk, Old Commuter Terminal, 5:00 a.m.
January 14, 2012 Start of Softball Tournament, Agana Heights Baseball Field
January 15, 2012 Paddling Challenge and Airport Get-Together, Matapang Beach, 8:00 a.m.
January 16, 2012 Bowling Tournament, Central Lanes, 10:00 a.m.
January 17, 2012 Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Walk, Airport Operations Area, 8:30 a.m.
January 18, 2012 Wave, Employee Parking Lot (Lower Level), 4:00 p.m.
January 19, 2012 Golf Tournament, STARTS Golf Course, 11:00 a.m.
January 20, 2012 Tenant Appreciation Banquet and Employee Recognition Program
