FAA Gives Guam Airport Perfect Score Three Years In A Row

Over the last three days, FAA Certification Inspector, William J. Brown from the Honolulu Airport District Office has been conducting the annual certification inspection for the A.B. Won Pat International Airport, Guam, (GIAA). Today, he announced his findings to GIAA management. The results? Zero discrepancies and 100% compliance with 14 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 139, the Airport Certification Manual, and the Airport Operating Certificate

“It’s a three-peat, a third year we received “0” discrepancies and a 100% score,” said Chuck Ada, Executive Manager of the A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority. “Never before, in this region, under inspection by the Honolulu Airport District Office, has an Airport received a 100% score, much less, achieved this result three years in a row. This only serves as a true testament to the professionalism and hard work of its employees, tenants, and stakeholders. Achieving this result is truly a success, another feather in our hat, as to the safety and security and top notch quality of aviation facilities and services at the Guam International Airport. As our motto says “ Hulo’ the only direction is UP!”

As a certified Airport Operator, Guam’s Airport is subject to strict requirements and meeting the standards for daily operations. In terms of facilities this included runway and taxiway pavement markings and airfield lighting. Extensive review of our Airport Certification Manual, firefighting training, self-inspections, and aircraft fueling operations were also inspected. In all, the Guam International Airport is inspected in 123 fields of safety and security. At stake in the inspection is the ability to operate as a fully certified airport, as required under FAA regulations for civilian, commercial airports.
