Airport Police Heightens Security Measures

Monday, December 28, 2009

The Airport Police has elevated security measures with more resources at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam, in response to the recent foiled terror act on NW Flight 253.

“We’re collaborating closely with Guam TSA, and our airline partners and have heightened our security measures, keeping careful watch on passenger’s actions in the terminal as soon as the NW253 incident occurred” stated Airport Police Chief Bob Camacho. “We want the public to be assured that we are watching out for everyone’s safety and security, and measures are in place.”

The extra measures may not be obvious to the casual observer in the terminal; they are not meant to be. “We’ve implemented our own enhanced security measures, and are prepared to meet any TSA security directives that may be issued,” stated Carlos H. Salas, Executive Manager.

“The public is advised that unattended items will be taken into custody. Be mindful of the authorized items that are allowed in carry-on items and checked in luggage, and travelers are advised to come early and allow for additional time to go through the check-in and inspection processes, ” stated Mr. Salas. “The extra time for everyone’s safety and security is a minor sacrifice considering the recent event. I’m certain we all want the same thing – safety and freedom to travel. ”
