Airport Receives Marketing Awards
Tuesday, March 8, 2016
Guam Airport receives Marketing Award at Routes Asia Network Development Forum on March 7, 2016. Standing L-R: Fred Tupaz, TMG Consultant; Elfrieda Koshiba, GIAA Marketing Coordinator; Rosalinda Tolan, GIAA Director; Kathy Sgro, GIAA Director; Christopher Eve, Senior VP, UBM Asia; and Peter Roy Martinez, GIAA Deputy Executive Manager.
The A. B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam has been awarded the top marketing award for airports in the under 4 million passengers category at the Routes Asia Network Development Forum, being held in Manila, Philippines from March 6 through 8, 2016.
The Routes Asia Forum is the premier networking event for the aviation industry where airports can meet one on one with global airline network planners. Routes Asia is a dynamic event in that the Asia Pacific region is the fastest growing region for air travel, having increased regional travel by 8.2% growth in the last twelve months, in a report published in December 2015 by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The Routes Asia Marketing Awards was created in 1997 to recognize excellence in airport marketing as rewarded by airlines. The awards are split into four categories, comprising of three airport categories, split by size, and a destination category for the best destination marketing campaign by a tourism authority. Awardees are exclusively nominated, reviewed and eventually selected for award by the airline community. Criteria include overall airport marketing programs and results from the last twelve months, and evidence of the establishment of successful relationship to introduce new or enhance existing routes.
"Receiving this award is recognition from Airlines, that the Guam Airport has created a very attractive environment for new air service, and acknowledgement of our success in the field of route development, stated Peter Roy Martinez, Deputy Executive Manager of the Airport Authority. "Just this past year, two new airlines joined the Guam Airport family – Air Busan in July 2015 and T’way Air in September 2015. We also will be welcoming Cebu Pacific who will operate its inaugural flight on March 15, 2016."
