GIAA Confirms COVID-19 Case Airport Operations Remain Unaffected

The A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam (GIAA) announces a new confirmed case of COVID-19 amongst GIAA employees.

GIAA Executive Manager John "JQ" Quinata stated, "We have been informed of a new confirmed case of COVID-19 by an Airport employee. The Airport has undertaken contact tracing efforts, working closely with Public Health to identify close contacts. Thorough sanitization of work and public areas has also been undertaken to ensure the safety and protection of all at the Airport."

For everyone's safety, protective measures are in place for all those entering the airport terminal:

  • Controlled entry points strictly limited to active travelers, employees on duty and GIAA approved essential service providers.
  • 100% Thermal screening and mandatory face mask use.
  • Social distancing practices and queuing systems at passenger processing points, seating areas, elevators.
  • Transparent barriers at ticket counters and passenger service counters at retail, rental car, food and beverage, and passenger amenities counters.
  • Public announcements reminding all in the terminal to follow the CDC guidelines and precautionary measures.

Executive Manager John Quinata further stated, "I want to assure the public, our stakeholders and the travelling community that airport operations remain unaffected. We constantly strive to improve processes and enhance facilities to protect our community in all ways possible. Operations continue with the commitment of all employees- Kfrom airlines, vendors regulatory agencies and airport personnel to support travel to, through and from Guam’s Airport with all safeguards and protection currently available and in practice."
