Guam Airport & Partners Donate to Local Autism Organizations
Friday, December 29, 2017
The A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam partnered with twenty- two (22) tenants and airport stakeholders to extend holiday cheer and donate much-needed funds to two local organizations that deal with autism in our island community.
"Deck Our Halls and Give" was a holiday decorating program that offered airport tenants and vendors the opportunity to help raise funds and have a hand in creating a festive holiday environment at the airport terminal. For a small fee of $200, various tenants and airport-affiliated companies were given Airport trees to decorate. All the money raised was donated to our local non-profit organizations Autism Community Together (ACT) and HunterSpeaks.
Executive Manager, Charles H. Ada, II stated, "It was a great effort to pull our resources together to get this done! We are so happy that 22 partners came through and partnered with us for this effort raising a total of $4,400. To those who missed out, rest assured that you'll have a chance to participate next year as we're looking to make this an annual event."
Major Josephine M.P. Blas of the Guam Army National Guard heads the ACT, an organization that focuses on providing support and network to families with autistic children. Dr. Vincent Duenas and his wife Tanya Duenas co-founded the new organization HunterSpeaks, which aims to provide medically necessary autism treatment to children on Guam. Both organizations were on hand to receive their donation checks of $2,200 raised for each group.
We'd like to extend a heartfelt Si Yu'os Ma'åse to our Airport partners who generously donated and decorated trees as part of our Deck Our Halls & Give:
