Guam Airport Receives FAA “2019 Safety Award”

Friday, June 7, 2019

Tamuning — The Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam (GIAA) was just bestowed the prestigious 2019 Airport Safety Award by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the 10th Western-Pacific Airports Conference that just wrapped up in Torrance, CA.

GIAA was recognized for its exceptional Part 139 compliance record. GIAA completed its annual Part 139 certification inspections with no discrepancies over the last three (3) consecutive years. The Airport management and staff were recognized for the exemplary work accomplished in operating and maintaining the airport to the highest of safety standards. Additionally, FAA noted that the Guam International Airport continues to support the airports of the neighboring Micronesian island airports with operations, security and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) training and resource sharing.

“This is a great acknowledgment of the hard work the Airport staff, along with our stakeholders, have put into ensuring that our Airport is 100% safe and compliant with all of FAA’s stringent safety standards. We are committed to maintaining our exemplary record by passing our annual certification compliance inspections with the ‘Zero Discrepancies’! We will also continue to partner and support our regional airports in the best way we can with training, resource sharing, and sharing of best management practices, especially in the areas of safety and security, which is our paramount concern.” said Executive Manager Tom Ada.
