USDOT Grants Exemption to T'way Air Seat Capacity From Korea to Increase

Monday, June 8, 2015

More than 5,000 seats will be added to the inventory of seats from South Korea to Guam now that T'Way Air Co., Ltd.'s request to fly to Guam has been approved.

The A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam reveived the news that the U.S Department of Transportation has authorized T'way Air Co., Ltd. to operate within the United States.

"The Airport has been an important partner in growing our tourism industry," Governor Eddie Baza Calvo stated. "It's important that we continue to market Guam as a great place to do business or visit on family vacations. This effort is particularly important because there are globel issues tat are out of our control that impact us. So attracting visitors and business investors is a large part of what we have to do to grow Guam.

T'way Air applied for the exemption authority with their application for a foreign carrier permit in February, and there have not been any objections in their application process to date. Come next month, the airline is slated to begin scheduled daily service between Seoul, Korea and Guam.

Executive Manager, Charles H. Ada II shared that "the carrier will be using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with an all-economy configuration. We are very excited because this will add 5,670 seats to our monthly seat capacity from Korea. We, at the Airport, will continue to nurture growth from all markets and engage air carriers as they respond to the demand for increased fligths from anywhere into Guam!"
